Mewsic Kitty Cafe Open House {Nashville Cat Photographer}

If you loved the Mewsic Kitty Cafe Pop Up from last year, then you'll be excited to hear that they are officially open for business! I had an amazing time taking photos of their pop up cat cafe last summer, and I am SO excited they are now here year-round!

Mewsic Kitty Cafe is Tennessee's very first cat cafe! They provide "a vibrant, comfy, cage-free place for adoptable headliners (that's the cats!) to meet their furever families." So, not only do you have the chance to hang out with some of the cutest cats in Nashville, but you can adopt them from Nashville Cat Rescue while you're there! They've already had a dozen successful adoptions, the last of which was Keith Furban. :)

Take a look at some of my favorites from the Mewsic Kitty Cafe's open house below!

Cat Rescue with the Beagle Freedom Project {Nashville Cat Photographer}

One of the most heartwarming parts about my job is capturing significant and meaningful moments -- and the cat rescue with the Beagle Freedom Project was all of that and more.

I had the opportunity to photograph these adorable cats being rescued from a lab. Unfortunately, all kinds of animals are still being tested on today. That's why it's so important to look for cruelty-free products. If you aren't sure how to know which products don't test on animals, you can check out resources like the Cruelty Cutter app and One Green Planet.

The Beagle Freedom Project (BFP) rescues any and all kinds of animals from labs like this one. I've also been lucky enough to work with this organization before when I photographed foster pup Lucky!

We also had an amazing singer assist us that day: Meghan Linsey! Not only was she a runner up from Season 8 of The Voice, but she's also an ambassador for BFP and a big advocate of cruelty-free products.

Many of the cats were scared and most were super friendly -- they simply needed some love. All of the cats involved are up for adoption (and several have been adopted already!). If you are interested in adopting one of these cats, you can learn more about the process by going to the Beagle Freedom Project website.

Two other great organizations were also involved that day:
Friends of Hannah Rescue and Hairy Moose Pet Retreat

Please join me in supporting these organizations or spreading the word so that we can find loving forever homes for these animals!

Mewsic Kitty Cafe Pop Up & Nashville Cat Rescue {Nashville Cat Cafe}

Are you more of a cat person than a dog person? Or maybe you love them both equally like I do!  Either way, I think you'll absolutely adore these photos from the pop up cat cafe that happened in Nashville a few weeks ago!

This was the first-ever Mewsic Kitty cat cafe pop up, which took place in the basement of Atmology. Maegan and Thein (pictured below) are the creators of this unique event, offering cat lovers an opportunity to relax with cats, drink coffee, and watch movies all at once. All in collaboration with the Nashville Cat Rescue. I'd say this pop up was a great success!

Not only did the kittens at this weekend-long event have fun stage names, but seven of them even found forever homes! You might even be able to learn a bit about their looks and personality just by reading their names: Mike Fisher, Shania Twang, Jason Meowdean, Conway Kitty, Kitty Wells, Sid Not-Vicious and Johnny Cats.

Although this was the first pop up, it won't be the last! Maegan and Thein are already planning for another pop up (likely this fall) and are hoping to have a permanent location for the Mewsic Kitty Cafe by the end of next summer.

Curious about the story behind the idea? Maegan said that she has always loved cats and when she stumbled across cat cafes in Japan, she was blown away:

"I always thought it would be super therapeutic to chill in a room full of cats at the end of a long day. When I mentioned the idea to Thien, we had a lot of fun thinking up punny cat names and product ideas for a Nashville cat cafe. A while later, we saw cat cafes pop up in California and New York. North America added the adoption element to their cat cafes, which I thought was brilliant because it creates a more comfortable adoption environment for both cats and people. Once a cat cafe opened in Charleston, SC in fall of 2016, we agreed Nashville was past due for a cat cafe of its own. We decided the time is meow and here we are!"

If you're interested in staying up to date on future pop ups, visit the Mewsic Kitty Cafe website! And if you're interested in adding a new kitten to your family, the Nashville Cat Rescue still has many kittens up for adoption and in foster care.

Hope you love these little fur babies as much as I do!
