Amber, Justin and Otis at Ellington Agriculture Center {Nashville Dog Photographer}

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I am certainly thankful for each and every one of my clients that have given me the honor to photograph them and their pets during this year. Today I am sharing one of those families: Amber and Justin with their Boston Terrier puppy, Otis who is just seven months old!

Amber and Justin brought this sweet guy home from a family in Kentucky. The top priority when coming up with a name for their pup was that it had to be a name that could have fun nickname choices to go with it. They liked “Bug” and “Otis”, but they knew it had to be “Otis” when they met him. Otis now answers to Otis, Oats, Otis Redding, Hall and Oats, Oats McGoats, and more.

Otis loves people and is very affectionate. He provides lots of licks! He is so playful and friendly and no matter where he goes with his humans, he brings joy to other people around. Otis also loves sitting and laying in human spots, like the couch, a chair, and the bed (especially when he can have his head on either Justin or Amber and have his rear end touching the other person). He does not like it when both of them are not there for him to cuddle up to!

Below are a few of my favorite pics from our session at the Ellington Agriculture Center.

The Dizmon Family {Nashville Pet Photography}

On the blog this week are Katie, Charles and their two Aussie pups: Booker and Wren. We did our photo session at Marcella Vivrette Smith Park in Brentwood, TN.

Booker and Wren are Australian Shepherds. Charles got the name Booker from one of his favorite games - BioShock Infinite. Booker is one and a half, but still believes he is a small puppy the way he will forcibly flop in your lap when you are on the ground with him. He won’t do this for just anyone, though. He can still get nervous around new people even though Katie has been socializing him by taking him everywhere. (She has even taken him to work with her every week!) However, gain his trust and Katie says he will greet you with “the most excited wigglebutt.” His absolute favorite thing is tennis balls, car rides, and any and all food.

Booker’s sister, Wren, is a not quite one year old. Katie named her after Wren birds. She said she knew she wanted to be able to utilize the name of the bird in someway eventually because she remembers growing up with the Wren birds always making nests in her garage. “We would keep an eye on them constantly.” So when they got a female dog, it just seemed fit. Wren loves carting around a fuzz ball. It’s too big for her, but she doesn’t care…she absolutely loves it! She also loves under the collar scratches and will seemingly melt into your arms for them. Katie loves her soulful eyes that just begs for anyone to pay attention her.

So why Aussies? Katie actually grew up with Aussies since she was just a little girl. She had always known she would have another one someday, as she loves how trainable and friendly they are to their owners. After getting married and getting a house with a fenced in yard with plenty of room, it was time to make that happen!

The Dizmon family were troopers because it rained TWICE during their hour session, BUT I love how much variety in lighting we had because of it - evidence that you don’t need a sunny day to get great pictures! Take a look at some of my favorites!

Kelli & David's family session with their chickens & dog! {Nashville Lifestyle Photographer}

First, I must address the crickets heard on the blog lately. We are selling and buying homes right now and unfortunately the blog has taken a bit of a back seat to that process (and what a process it is)! I'm happy to say that today is the day for a new blog and what better choice than Kelli & David's lifestyle session at their great new house in East Nashville - along with their dog Charley, and all three of their chickens: Ann-Margaret, Penguin, and Amelia!

So I was just a little bit excited about my very first photo shoot including chickens, and now that I've done one I can't wait for the next! This session was so much fun - Kelli and David could not have been sweeter and I also had a very educational experience as I asked approximately one million questions about raising chickens while I was there. We are moving to a more rural area near Franklin, so who knows….chickens may be in our future :)

Thanks for looking!
