Zettersten Family {Nashville Dog Photography}

This week on the blog, I get to share a record for me of the largest puppy I have ever photographed! Yes! You read that right…the St. Bernard photographed below, is just a puppy! He is only six months old. His sister, who is seven years old, is another big dog breed - a Bernese Mountain Dog.

Johanna and Rolf Zettersten brought their sweet pups to my home in College Grove for their photo shoot. Winston is the St. Bernard and was named Winston because he “just looks like a Winston” and after Winston Churchill. Their Bernese Mountain Dog was named Scout (a girl) after the character in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Both Winston and Scout love everything. While Winston is still navigating kids, Scout is just happy to be alive. However, she doesn’t like thunderstorms.

Johanna and Rolf love to watch Winston grow, as he is changing everyday. They love discovering the world through his eyes. “He is such a happy little boy.” The Zettersten’s say Scout is just the most loyal, loving creature. When asked about why they love the breeds of their pups, their response was “We love big dogs and we can not lie.” In all seriousness, both pups are gentle giants with an even bigger capacity to love unconditionally.

I can’t end on a much sweeter note than that. Hope you enjoy checking out some of my favorite photos from their session!

Amy & Faulkner {Nashville Pet Photographer}

On the blog this week is a fun pet portrait session with a couple familiar faces: Amy and Faulkner! I've worked with them several times before -- you can even check out their fall mini session from a couple of years ago here

Faulkner got his name from Amy's favorite author: William Faulkner.  He loves tennis balls more than anything, playing with them all over the house, in the yard, and will even sleep with them nearby.

Faulkner is a rescue from Southeast German Shorthair Pointer (SEGSP) Rescue. Amy met his foster parents in Montgomery in April of 2012 to pick him up, and although they live in Mobile, they've kept in touch ever since.

Amy says her favorite thing about him is his zest for life: "It's infectious! The way his face lights up when he sees a ball would make anyone smile." She loves how sweet, yet regal he can be -- when he lies in her lap she just melts! Although the breed has a lot of energy, Amy's totally okay with that because so does she! :)

Here are a few of my favorites!

But they aren't the only ones who can enjoy some awesome products. Below are a few spotlights of some amazing vendors who offer a range of items for dogs and dog lovers alike!

Winks and Whiskers

One of the only companies out there of its kind, Winks & Whiskers is an apparel company for pet parents! Started by Eric and Kayla (a husband and wife team!), this company sells pet parent apparel that not only looks and feels trendy, but also gives back!

Another company I love is Mutthead, which offers a wide selection of stylish collars for dogs (and cats!). They specialize in offering buckle and martingale dog collars for dogs of all sizes, but also offer leashes, bow ties, and bandanas as well.

And if you don't see a fabric you love in the type of product you're looking for, you can contact them to see if you can order something custom for your pet!

Earthdog

earthdog eco friendy dog company

For an eco-friendly shopping option, check out Earthdog's hemp collars, leashes and dog beds -- all handmade here in the US! They've been around for 20 years now -- or as they say on their website, "140 dog years" -- and they donate 10% of their profits to Kody's Fund, a non-profit that funds spay and neuter programs.

Barker's Market

If you love shopping at the Franklin Farmer's Market, you may have seen the booth for the Barker's Market, a family-owned business right here in Nashville.

They make handcrafted pet apparel and all-natural pet treats -- everything from bandanas, leashes and collars to doggy donuts and cat treats! The Barker's Market also donates 10% of their profits to local pet charities that share their values by promoting animal health and happiness. :)
